Razgatlioglu pips Rea and Bautista in Sunday Warm Up, one tenth between the three title rivals

The reigning Champion went fastest with his last lap of the 15-minute session to top the first action on Sunday at Donington, top three separated by a tenth

Sunday MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship action kicked off in style with the 15-minute Warm Up session as reigning Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK) topped the times at Donington Park for the Prosecco DOC UK Round. Leaving it until his last lap of the session, Razgatlioglu went fastest by just 0.011s ahead of six-time Champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK).

Razgatlioglu’s final lap time was a 1’27.390s as he topped the session to start his Sunday action in style, with just 0.011s between him and Rea in second; Rea posting a 1’27.401s as he slotted into second place. Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), looking to bounce back from his Race 1 crash in Sunday’s two races, was third and just a tenth behind Razgatlioglu’s pace.

After taking his first 2022 podium in Race 1, Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) continued his strong form with fourth place, 0.249s back from Razgatlioglu, with Scott Redding (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) in fifth place after posting a 1’27.863s. Italian Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was sixth quickest and only a tenth behind former teammate Redding.

American star Garrett Gerloff (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) claimed seventh place in Warm Up and was the last rider to post their fastest time in the 1’27s bracket, finishing ahead of Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) and Loris Baz (Bonovo Action BMW) in ninth and tenth respectively; Lecuona and Baz separated by just 0.017s. Rookie Phillip Oettl rounded out the top ten with a 1’28.406s as he finished just one tenth behind Baz.
